The morning kicked off with light showers, a moderate south to south westerly breeze. As the morning progressed, so did the winds and rain with gusts exceeding force four - creating three challenging races. Despite the rain, turnout was good with 21 drenched sailors on the start line: 14 from Aldenham and seven guests.

Winner of the meeting was A Bishop(Girton SC) with S Barrett (FG SC) in second place – both guest sailors. Andy Omasta (ASC) made a great start winning the first race. He took fourth place in the second race, third in the final and finishing third overall. Barefoot sailor, Nick Turner decided his race strategy would be sailing without any footwear. Unfortunately his outhaul failed before starting the second race and had to return to base. ASC Fleet captain, Simon Paish said, “I wasn’t anywhere that made any difference,” but still made a respectable finish in twelve position.

Bob Jones and his dedicated AOD team meticulously timed and recorded the event with Swiss-watch precision; while Julia Jenkin’s team provided vital sustenance to all present. - Many thanks to them all.
